The BYD U8 also known as Yangwang U8 is a full-size luxury SUV manufactured by BYD Auto under the Yangwang brand. The Yangwang U8 is the first model of BYD’s new premium brand, and was introduced on Auto Guangzhou in January 2023. It is an electric vehicle with a petrol engine acting as a range extender. It is a domestic luxury model positioned as an electric hardcore crossover SUV with six core technologies: Easy Four Square, Cloud Chariot, Blade Battery, Super Body, Intelligent Cockpit, and Intelligent Driving Assistance.
The U8 adopts the self-developed E-Square technology platform, a new architecture based on four-wheel, four-motor independent drive, which enables precise control of the torque of each wheel, thus providing 17+1 driving modes, such as ice and snow fixed-circle, and desert slope charging, for example. According to BYD’s official introduction, in addition to a variety of off-road modes, the Yangwang U8 also has a flotation mode and the ability to continue driving with a flat tyre.

The U8 is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine that is not connected to the wheels, thus making it an electric range extended vehicle. It charges a 49.05 kWh battery, that in turn powers four 220 kW (295 hp; 299 PS) traction electric motors for a total output of 880 kW (1,180 hp; 1,196 PS). Its maximum range is listed as 1,000 km (620 mi) with a full 75-litre petrol tank and full battery on the CLTC cycle. Top speed is limited to 200 km/h (124 mph), and 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) acceleration is claimed at 3.6 seconds.
The U8 supports DC fast charging up to 110 kW, with BYD claiming a 30–80% charging duration in 18 minutes. It is also capable of supplying 6 kW discharge through the vehicle-to-load capability.

PRICE OF BYD U8
BYD says semiautonomous driving on highways and City Navigation Autopilot will arrive via future over-the-air updates. The U8 is priced from the equivalent of £120,000 (around $149,000) in China, where it is available right now.
